Abstract In the optical communication system, fibers are used to transmit information in a long-haul system at very high speed. However, attenuation causes loss signal transmission. Chromatic dispersion is an ultimate limiting factor for high-speed long-distance communication. The chromatic broadening of incident pulse while traversing along fiber length. This reduces information-carrying capacity transmitted signal. caused by material and waveguide dispersion. We COMSOL Multiphysics evaluate different refractive indexes silica glass varying wavelengths from 1300 (nm) 1600 (nm). have modelled 2D using Electromagnetic Wave, Frequency Domain. effective mode index was computed Mode Analysis total calculated theoretically. values within 7% theoretical values.
